Nanotechnology and Radiation Dosimetry Group
Our research involves light-matter interactions, focusing on the effects of ionizing radiation in nanosystems to better understand and optimize processes related to the delivery and detection of radiation dose. We are engaged in synthesis and characterization of novel nanomaterials, including gold and silver nanoparticles and films, rare-earth based nanoestructures, superparamagnetic nanoparticles, organic and hybrid organic-inorganic nanomaterials, quantum-dots, and core-shell nanostructures. Applications span from development of new radiation dosimeters (ESR, TL, OSL, and RL) to combined cancer therapies (radiotheray, photodynamic therapy, photo and magnetic hyperthermia) and theranostics.
